We have expanded our First Nations Collection with additions for all ages.
New titles included selections featuring traditions of the First Nations of Canada by region and by tribes: Blackfoot, Dene, Inuit, Sioux, Metis, Huron and the Ojibwa to list a few. These are very suitable for younger readers but hold a wealth of information mature readers would find interesting as well.
We also received several titles of aboriginal themed fiction to add to our collection. New titles range from “Nobody Cries at Bingo” and “Fatty Legs”. Stop by and check these out.
Winter Reading Program:
Looking forward, we will be hosting the Winter Reading Program again. Please help your child track their reading minutes at home with the reading log that will be sent home with all the students. Please keep track of all minutes read by your child in the month of February. Include minutes your child has spent on reading for fun as well as their home reading from school. For every five hours a student read, their name will be entered into a draw for a Kobo eReader.
We will also have activities on Tuesday, Feb 25th starting at 3:30PM, right after school. Our theme this year is “Reading in a Winter Wonderland”.
In the mean time, stay warm. Sit by the fire with a hot cup of tea and grab a good book.
